Kantha is an embroidery style from the Indian sub-continent’s eastern regions, including West Bengal and Bangladesh, and it’s often done by women in rural areas. Traditional quilts are made from layers of old cotton saris, joined with the running Kantha stitch. Nothing is wasted, since the scraps form the base for the jewellery. The beads we use in our Kantha jewellery are all hand-carved from repurposed wood and covered in sari fabrics, making each piece unique.
